In 1995, it was decided to open a military faculty at the Academy of Civil Aviation. The military faculty played an exceptional role in the training of specialists in the specialty of radio-technical flight support. On October 15, 2001, by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1330, the Military Faculty under the AHA was reorganized into a full-fledged military university – the Military Engineering Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications (VIIREiS). Thus, VIIREiS became the first and only military university in the post-Soviet republics of Central Asia, which trains engineers and engineers in radio engineering specialties.
Currently, the Institute trains radio engineer officers in 5 specialties. Over the years, the institute has become one of the leading military educational institutions in the Republic of Kazakhstan. A highly qualified teaching staff is concentrated at the institute, which has extensive experience in military service and is able to transfer its knowledge to cadets, among which more than 100 people have academic and academic degrees and academic ranks.
